A Still life of red onions and turnips painted with watercolour first then I added detail with watercolour pencils. I then added more water to only a little of the pencil work keeping some of the pencil lines unblended.
I've had a lot of fun lately exploring monotype printing. These are the results where I have used a combination of water based media. All three are available for sale. From the top they are named 'Poppy' 'Sheep' and 'Roses'.
I have been asked to explain how I paint / draw the pictures on the blog. So starting with this one - I painted with watercolour and added pastel after it was dry. This method is a quick one using any colours available on the palette - sometimes it works! The vases were made up from memory.
This is one of my favourite methods. Watercolour and pencils. I find that drawing is my forte so adding pencils to watercolour seems to work for me. This painting has been sold. I get a bit attached to my paintings and am somewhat reluctant to let them go but I guess it is part of the process. It does help when I know the picture has been bought by an appreciative person.
